The original name of Beihou Temple was "Beihou Temple". It was founded in 1985. It was originally dedicated to Mazu. Later, it was changed to worship Guanyin Bodhisattva and its name was changed.
The clay sculpture Buddha was moved to Beihou Temple in 2006 and housed in a specially built steel structure house. Due to the large temperature difference between hot and cold in the steel Buddhist hall, It was extremely unfavorable for the preservation of antiquities, and believers discovered that cracks were beginning to appear. In 2012, the Buddha statue was listed as an antiquities cultural asset in Yilan. The clay sculpture Buddha is 5 meters high and stands solemnly in Beihou Temple. Behind it is the Jigong Living Buddha, and the courtyard is guarded by a large Guanyin Buddha statue.
The Japanese Zen architectural style is a rare temple style in Taiwan and has deep historical, cultural and religious artistic value.
No wonder it attracts many pilgrims and tourists to visit, and the quiet and comfortable environment makes people yearn for it and calm their souls.
