There are three secret areas of bald cypress in Yilan, namely Yuanshan Piaopi Lake, Sanxing Township Annong Creekside and Luodong Sports Park. You can see the beautiful bald pine forest at Tianxin Bridge on the bank of Annong River in Sanxing. The reason why there is a whole row of bald pine trees is because the Sanxing Township Office planted about 200 bald cypress trees here in the 1980s to protect the bank from wind. The pine trees form this 500-meter-long boulevard.
